Itinerary

THE NORTH TOUR (Port Louis)

Being the main city in Mauritius, Port Louis is the home of the largest market, where you can find fresh food items, local dishes, and various handcrafted goods that are useful to locals and serve as souvenirs for tourists. It is always crowded, even during weekdays, as many locals working in Port Louis stop by for a cheap snack.

Caudan Waterfront

The Caudan is one of the oldest mall built in Mauritius. Located on the docks of Port-Louis, it includes many high-end boutiques, duty-free shops, and cheap food vendors. It also hosts two great business hotels: Le Labourdonnais and Le Suffren.

Citadel Fort

It is the largest city that is said to represent Mauritius itself as this magnificent city is the perfect example of this multiculturalism country. Port Louis was founded in 1735 by a French governor, Mahé de Labourdonnais.

Port Louis Bazaar & Chinatown

Being the main city in Mauritius, Port Louis is the home of the largest market, where you can find fresh food items, local dishes, and various handcrafted goods that are useful to locals and serve as souvenirs for tourists. It is always crowded, even during weekdays, as many locals working in Port Louis stop by for a cheap snack.

Pamplemousses Botanical Garden

The Botanic Garden, formally known as Sir Seewoosagur Botanic Garden, is one of the most visited attractions in Mauritius. The garden is located in the proximity of Port-Louis in the district of Pamplemousse.

Grand Bay

Grand Baie is the centre for tourism in Mauritius. This is where all the action happens: the seaside town is packed with bars, nightclubs and restaurants, shops and expansive resorts. Ocean activities are the focus here, with an array of water sports and experiences to suit just about everyone, from the underwater sea walk – a wonderful alternative to scuba diving – to deep-sea fishing. Grand Baie is also a great jumping off point for exploring the islands that lie to the north of the coast on day trips by catamaran or boat.

Cap Malheureux Red Church

One of the most renowned churches in Mauritius is the Notre Dame Auxiliatrice Chapel, a Roman Catholic Church famous for its vivid red roof against the bright turquoise sea and azure sky.

L’Aventure du Sucre Sugar Museum

Once lusted after as much as gold, sugar has enjoyed an extraordinary existence, leaving a profound impression on the history and identity of Mauritius. By following the trail of the Sugar Adventure with over 250 years of history, you can trace the history of the whole country.

Chateau de Labourdonnais

Domaine de Labourdonnais is famous for its Château, real jewel of the Mauritian heritage. Built in 1856, the Château de Labourdonnais was inhabited by a Mauritian family for over 150 years. The beauty and historical character of this unique colonial monument, which has long aroused visitors’ interest, has led to a reflection on its cultural and historic value, as well as that of the superb estate on which it was located. Claude Fauque, a renowned French museologist, and Alexandre Fruh, a famous French scenographer, came up with a new strategy for Domaine de Labourdonnais, thereby positioning the Château as a must-to-visit destination in Mauritius. In 2006, the Château de Labourdonnais underwent major restoration works to be restored to its former glory.
